Tokopedia Reveals Early 2023 Shopping Trends:  Set Top Boxes and Sunscreens in High Demand!

Jakarta, 2 February 2023 – Throughout January 2023, Electronics, Personal Care, Fashion, Home and Living, and Health were among the most searched categories on Tokopedia.

Tokopedia Online Shopping Trends in January 2023: Set Top Boxes in Demand

“Some of the best-selling products in the Electronics category on Tokopedia include digital TV set top boxes (STBs), LED lights, and wireless mouse,” said Head of External Communications Tokopedia, Ekhel Chandra Wijaya.

Sunscreen, skin moisturizers, and facial cleansers were some of the most popular products in the Personal Care category. Furthermore, Tokopedia noted that products such as pashminas, t-shirts, and sneakers were in high demand in the Fashion category.

Furthermore, electric kettles, shoe racks, pillows, and cushions were among the most frequently purchased items in the Home and Living category, while face masks, vitamins, and tissue paper were among the most popular products in the Health category.

“To continue fulfilling the high demand in online shopping through Tokopedia, we continue to strengthen our Hyperlocal initiatives, such as the Kumpulan Toko Pilihan* and Dilayani Tokopedia (Fulfilled by Tokopedia)**, to bring sellers and buyers closer wherever they may be,” Ekhel explained.

“Thanks to these initiatives, we found various interesting trends in people’s online shopping behavior throughout January 2023. For example, the farthest shipment recorded during the month–from transactions made through Tokopedia–was from Banda Aceh to Merauke,” added Ekhel.

Tokopedia also reported that the regions with the highest growth in the number of sellers include the regencies of Asmat (Papua), North Lombok (West Nusa Tenggara), Mappi (South Papua), East Manggarai (East Nusa Tenggara) and North Konawe (Southeast Sulawesi).

Significant increases in the number of buyers have been observed in the regencies of Southwest Maluku (Maluku), Malacca (East Nusa Tenggara), North Lombok (West Nusa Tenggara), Yapen Islands (Papua), and Morotai Island (North Maluku).

Additionally, the regencies of North Lombok (West Nusa Tenggara), Yapen Islands (Papua), Aru Islands (Maluku), Mappi (South Papua), and Sabu Raijua (East Nusa Tenggara) were the areas with the largest rise in transaction volume.

Tokopedia also made available a range of exciting promos, such as Tokopedia Tekno, which highlights a selection of curated tech products with flash sales of up to 99% and cashback offers of up to Rp2.2 million. Buyers can also find a variety of self-care products, clothing, and sports equipment through Cantik Fest and Zona Ganteng, with perks such as flash sales with discounts of up to 90% and prices starting as low as Rp500.

In addition, Women in Style celebrates women’s fashion with discounts of up to 90%. Home Living SALEbrations, which is the largest campaign in the Household category, offers cashback of up to Rp400.000. Consumers can also look for curated health products through Tokopedia Zona Sehat, which features two daily flash sales with discounts of up to 90%.
